The words "Separation of Church and State" are nowhere in the Constitution. It says "The government shall make no laws regarding religion" or something like that. Thomas Jefferson used the phrase Separation of Church and State when writing a letter to leader somewhere in Vermont I believe, telling the local authorities to stop telling a local preacher what to say. Hear that? The phrase was used to protect religious freedom, not public secularity.
