Keep it OUT by PaleoClipperArt Keep it OUT by PaleoClipperArt
Quit trying to force your religious views into my government!

Here is an interesting fact for you, there is NO secular opposition to gay marriage. It is all religious based.

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen [Muslims],—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan [Mohammedan] nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

Sorry but this is an incorrect statement. in the constitution it states 'freedom of religion' these means people are free to choice late in it they have 'seperation of church and state' which means government can not support or make laws based on ANY religion.

But not founded it. The Founding Fathers saw the church as a threat to personal liberties. So they made sure to install laws that will prevent religion from taking over into the constitution. Which many fundamentalist in America seem to ignore a lot.

Religions speak of singular moral codes. Governments are supposed to stand for what's right. Need I explain further?

I think all religions, beliefs and superstitions should be kept out of the government. Also about almost everything public and social. They only make way more harm than good to world. Only cause fear and chaos.

Very true.

I don't mind if I see someone praying on the side of the road for seemingly no reason. Oh well, their deal. But if they come into a government building and do it- I want to scream. Same as if they are praying at some disaster zone. If your there, if your able bodied, do something don't just sit there talking to yourself.

I don't remember all the details to well, but I do remember hearing something about the concept of two people "belonging to each other" being pre-religious, or at the very least before Christianity.
It was in a podcast I listen to.

Even the religious based part I have doubts with when it comes to any intolerance. If God allows you to be born into the world as you are, then it means he loves you the way you are and he would want his other children to be just as open minded.

I'd like it to be that way. But sadly alot of people not only debate with themselves on who, what, and how, god acts, but they decide that their opinion of this god is is also the opinion of their god. They then decide to press that opinion on anyone who is not of their opinion.
Common issues: homosexuality, is hell fire or separation from god, did jesus have a kid, is god all loving or just and damning, there are many more of course.

I think that religion is a personal thing. You should believe for yourself not others. Even if your belief is atheism. I find it sad when people force belief by putting it into the law because nothing good comes from it. :( If anything, it's actions like that which make religion look bad after.

Indeed those actions are. If people were able to keep their religious beliefs private I would be happy. But even online people put signature up "jesus is my savior!" which is pretty benign, but I've also seen "faggits are going to hell". So...yah... It would be very nice if religion were kept private. but it sadly just isn't. Which is why I publicly denounce it, and try to expose what is wrong with it.

I do have to mention one thing, have you noticed all the heated opinions on the Millions are Good stamp, yet this one has almost no discussion on it at all? I really thought this stamp would get people angry at me, not one that shows people don't need god to be good. Odd in my mind. Off topic I know, but it just came to mind.

As a Christian, I believe God tries to guide us into doing good, but it's up to the person to make the effort to do good. Also, goodness doesn't come from religion. Though religion can offer a form of guidance for morals, it's not the only thing in this world that can inspire those things. Religion does not give morals. Those are something a person attains from the influences of their own actions and those of others. With that said while keeping in mind that we live in a world where belief is very diverse, you can't say religion or lack of religion is the source of what makes a person good or bad. It's our own actions.

I never intended to state that lack of religion is the source of morals, but I do intend to state that religion is not the source. Same as you; and you also realize alot more than most do.
