I feel it greatly expresses many of the non-believers/freethinkers/atheists/secular humanists, or whatever you may call yourself.
So, next time you want to say "Thank God you lived through that surgery." (or something similar) Stop and think for a moment. Who really made sure that person lived through that surgery? God, no. The doctor and all his human assistants.
